Home sweet home
We are back for a short trip to visit the family. Our last trip back together was six years ago, so it was about time.
It’s amazing what the brain and body remember. I am just enjoying the sights and sounds and smells, things I probably took for granted growing up. The sound of the gecko at night, or the “chonk chonk” sound of the nightjar, the smell of the incense at the Indian barber I used to go to when I was a teenager. Or seeing the old uncles and aunties, familiar faces from my youth. The distant sound of the mosque.
It’s true what they say, home is where the heart is. And though Home is in the USA, and has been for over 20 years, Malaysia and her memories will always hold a special place in my heart.
