What are your thoughts that the blood glucose was monitored via an arterial catheter especially with regards to confirming hypoglycaemia of 2.2 mmol/l? I had the impression that the venous blood glucose is lower than arterial and whether this had a role in the outcome of the study.

most ICU protocols require hourly blood tests when a patient is on an insulin drip- so venous testing probably isn't feasible
